Andrew Noyes

About Me:

I started my working life as a maths teacher and joined the University of Nottingham in 2001 to train secondary teachers. I was head of the School of Education at the University from 2014-18 and now oversee research for the Faculty of Social Sciences. I’m still quite involved in maths education nationally, chairing a number of committees and working groups.

Favourite Animal: Phoenix (ok, I don’t really have a favourite and I don’t know whether mythic creatures count but it represents a nice idea!). If you want a real animal then how about…eagle (hmm, not that different after all)
Favourite Colour: Blue

Why I'm Riding:

I’m riding John O’Groats to Land’s End because it’s a great challenge for a tremendous cause. Sitting on a bike saddle for several days in a row can get painful, but that’s nothing compared to the challenges faced by the families that the SWL seeks to support. There is a wonderful camaraderie that builds up when cycling the length of the British Isles together and I very much hope that we can make a huge difference to SWL and, through it, to families.
